What Are Washington's Nursing CE Requirements?

Many states in the U.S. require a certain number of contact hours for license renewal. As a registered nurse and licensed practical nurse in Washington state, you are required to complete 45 continuing education hours every three years. Nurse Practitioners are required to complete 30 CE hours in the area of your specialty every two years. If you hold prescriptive authority, you are required to complete 15 CE hours in pharmacotherapeutics. There is also a one-time requirement of 6 CE hours of suicide prevention training, however, certified registered nurse anesthetists are excluded from this requirement.

While there are no state required courses that you have to take as a RN and a LPN, you should complete your 45 CE hours with courses that will benefit your education and career.
