APRNs are required to maintain national certification. If an APRN has less than 960 hours of practice within the past 5 years, 45 hours of continuing education in advanced pharamacology and 45 hours in subject(s) related to APRN role are required for renewal.
APRNs who are authorized to prescribe or dispense Schedule II controlled substances and have a valid DEA number must complete a minimum of 3 hours related to opioids, substance abuse/use disorder, or addiction, every 4-year renewal period.
